Attività d’intrattenimento e svago a Merano
A Merano per via della sua posizione unica, ci sono infinite possibilità di programmare il tempo libero. Il clima mediterraneo consente di praticare qualsiasi tipo di attività all’area aperta per pressoché tutti i 365 giorni dell’anno. Situato nel fondovalle di quattro importanti valli (la Val Venosta, la Val Passiria, la Val d’Adige e la Val d’Ultimo) è completamente circondato dalle montagne e un panorama unico. Da una passeggiata tranquilla Lungo Passirio, a una sciata all’impianto sciistico di Merano 2000 (raggiungibile in appena 5 min. dal centro città); da una partita a Golf nella Val Passiria, a un giro in bici attraverso i circostanti piantagioni di mele e vitigni, tantissime discipline sportive sono attuabili che sicuramente rendono il Suo soggiorno a Merano speciale e indimenticabile.

Inoltre c’è la possibilità di programmare gite organizziate con passeggiate guidate (come il sentiero di Sissi ad esempio) e degustazioni di diversi tipi di specialità tirolesi (speck, formaggio, vini) in une delle varie cantine tipiche.

Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff

I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff a Merano, estesi a digradare su una superficie complessiva di 12 ettari, riuniscono
in un anfiteatro naturale paesaggi esotici e mediterranei, vedute  mozzafiato sugli scenari montani circostanti e sulla cittadina di cura Merano baciata dal sole. In più di 80 ambienti botanici prosperano e fioriscono piante da tutto il mondo. Giovani o vecchi, appassionati di botanica o gente comune: i Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff affascinano chiunque con l’incantevole intreccio fra natura, cultura e arte.
	Castel RametzSormontato da diversi merli, si trova immerso tra i vigneti. Venne ristrutturato oltre cent’anni fa e solamente il lato sud e la torre hanno mantenuto l’aspetto originario. Oggi è ristorante e cantina produttrice di ottimi vini.
Castel Verruca – FragsburgOggi albergo e ristorante, situato a 800 metri sopra il livello del mare è la costruzione fortificata più alta di Merano, incantevole vista da qui. Si può raggiungere anche a piedi con una camminata di un paio d’ore. La semplice costruzione in stile caratteristico del XIV secolo, le arcate della loggia e la cappella appena restaurata rendono il maniero un vero e proprio bijoux.
PolverieraRovina che sormonta la città vecchia di Merano, sorge sulle passeggiate Tappeiner. Nel XVI, XVII e XVIII secolo fungeva da deposito della polvere da sparo.
Castel KallmünzDalle spalle del parcheggio di piazza della Rena se ne intravedono i merli. Il primo castellano, menzionato nel 1460, era il giudice Kallmünz di Regensburg. Ospita uno dei ristoranti più rinomati della città. Nel giardino vengono occasionalmente messe in scena delle opere.
	Castel GattoCostruito a Maia Bassa nel XVII secolo, è proprietà dei signori di Castel Gatto: lo stemma raffigura proprio un felino. Perla architettonica ristrutturata, è di proprietà privata.
Castello PrincipescoResidenza dei Principi del Tirolo dal 1470 in poi, il Castello Principesco è un ottimo esempio di nobile dimora privata. Merano ArteIn uno spazio espositivo di 500 metri quadrati, ripartiti sui tre piani dell’edificio Cassa di Risparmio, Merano Arte funge da teatro per esposizioni, concerti, performance, incontri letterari, seminari e workshop. Un riferimento per le avanguardie dell’arte e della cultura contemporanea internazionale, ma anche un punto di incontro per la scena culturale cittadina. Museo delle donneIl Museo delle Donne, unico nel suo genere in Italia, ha una sede tutta nuova, al 2° e 3° piano del palazzo della Banca Popolare. Lo storico edificio ospitò, dal 1309 al 1782, un convento di clarisse. Al piano superiore si trova la collezione permanente di oggetti legati alla vita quotidiana femminile. La moda è intesa come specchio della società e l‘esposizione interpreta lo spirito del tempo di ogni epoca, sulla base dei suoi diversi modi di manifestarsi. Gli spazi del livello inferiore ospitano invece mostre temporanee, convegni, seminari e presentazioni.
I visitatori possono anche consultare una biblioteca ricca di volumi sull’argomento. Touriseum	Il museo provinciale del Turismo non è un museo qualsiasi. Scenografie vive, palchi meccanici e figure a grandezza naturale animano infatti gli ambienti di Castel Trauttmansdorff. Il percorso museale nasconde mille sorprese e nelle venti sale dell’esposizione permanente illustra l’evoluzione di un’intera provincia, passata da terra contadina a moderna zona turistica.

Leisure, sporting activities and entertainment

In Merano because of its unique location, there are endless possibilities to plan your free time. The Mediterranean climate allows you to practice any type of outdoor activities for almost all 365 days of the year. Located in the basin of four major valleys ( Val Venosta , Val Passirio, the Val d’Adige and Val d’Ultimo ) it’s completely surrounded by mountains and a stunning view. From a comfortable walk along the Passer , to a ski day on the slopes of Merano 2000 (just 5 min. from the city center ); from a golf play in  Passirio Valley, to a bike ride through the surrounding apple orchards and vines, many sports are practicable which surely will make your stay in Merano very special and memorable.

In addition, there is the possibility to organize trips with guided walks (such as the path of Sissi for example) and tasting different kinds of Tyrolean specialties (bacon, cheese, wine ) in one of the many typical cellars.

The garden of Trauttmansdorff Castle

The Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, located in the town of Merano (Meran) in northern Italy, is a botanical garden

	Castel Rametz Crowned by various merlons, Rametz Castle is nestled amidst vineyards. Renovated over a hundred years ago, only the south side and the tower have maintained its original appearance. Today, the castle houses a restaurant and a high-quality winery.
Verruca (Fragsburg) Castle Today a hotel and restaurant, Fragsburg is located at an elevation of 800 metres: this not only makes it Merano’s highest fortification but also means that the views are wonderful. You can walk to the castle from town in a couple of hours. The simple construction in the style characteristic of the fourteenth century, the arches of the loggia, and the newly restored chapel make the castle a real gem.
Polveriera This ruin overlooking Merano’s old town, the name of which translates to Gunpowder Tower, is located on the Tappeiner Promenade. In the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries, the building served as a depository for gunpowder.
Kallmünz Castle  The merlons of Kallmüntz Castle are visible from the parking lot of Piazza della Rena (Sandplatz). The first owner of the castle, which was document in 1460, was Judge Kallmüntz of Regensburg. The building houses one of the Merano’s most celebrated restaurants. Now and then, the castle gardens provide the backdrop for musical events.
	Gatto Castle Built in Maia Bassa (Untermais) in the seventeenth century, this castle is the property of the Lords of Katzenstein (Katzen = cats): their coat of arms, in fact, depicts a cat. This restored architectural gem is now a private residence.
Princes’ Castle This residence of the rulers of Tyrol from 1470 onwards is a good example of a private noble residence. It is one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in South Tyrol: the exhibition includes precious antique furniture and a collection of ancient musical instruments. Please note that the Princes’ Castle will remain closed until April 14th 2014. Kunst Merano Art In an exhibition area of 500 square metres spread over three floors of the Cassa di Risparmio building, Merano Arte serves as a venue for exhibitions, concerts, performances, literary meetings, seminars and workshops. It is a point of reference for the avant-garde in art and international contemporary culture as well as a focal point for the city’s cultural scene. The museum may be accessed either from Via Portici or through Caffè Kunsthaus. Women’s Museum The Women’s Museum, unique in Italy, has a brand new headquarters: the second and third floors of the Banca Popolare building. The historical building housed a Clarisse convent from 1309 to 1782. On the upper floor, you’ll find the permanent collection, which comprises objects related to the daily lives of women. The museum views fashion as a mirror of society: the exhibition interprets the spirit of each epoch based on its style of dress.
The space on the lower level houses temporary exhibitions in addition to conferences, seminars and presentations. There is also an extensive library where visitors can read about a variety of related themes. Touriseum	The South Tyrol Museum of Tourism or “Touriseum” isn’t just any museum. Animation, mechanical stages, and human-scale figures bring the exhibit at Trauttmansdorff Castle to life. The journey is full of surprises: the twenty rooms of the permanent exhibition space show how the region transformed from Tyrolean farmland into a modern holiday destination.
