La Rocca fu edificata nel 1385 dai marchesi Bonifacio ed Antonio Lupi che nel 1347 avevano avuto da Carlo IV l’investitura feudale sul territorio, potere che esercitarono fino alle soppressioni napoleoniche. È probabile che il primo fortilizio, a pianta quadra e con le quattro torri ai lati, sorgesse già in capo ad un anno, mentre nel 1392 fu completato il muro esterno. A quei tempi l’edificio si presentava come una poderosa rocca munita d’ogni difesa contro gli attacchi esterni. Col passare del tempo e il consolidarsi delle Signorie, le lotte tra feudatari si fecero però via via più rare e il castello poté quindi ingentilire le sue strutture e diventare un piacevole e comodo palazzo, pur conservando anche le sue strutture antiche. Il castello subì, infatti, dei consistenti rifacimenti strutturali soprattutto nel Cinquecento ma fu solo nel secolo successivo che divenne una sfarzosa residenza principesca, aspetto che conserva tutt’oggi. Successive modifiche sono state portate dal parmigiano Angelo Rasori e dal piacentino Antonio Tomba rispettivamente nel ‘700 e nell’ 800. La Rocca, arricchita nel tempo di innumerevoli opere d’arte e di inestimabili testimonianze del passato, è sempre rimasta di proprietà della famiglia Meli Lupi.
La storia del casato dei Meli Lupi non può che partire dal più antico tra i signori di Soragna, il marchese Guido Lupi, che fu podestà di Parma nel 1202, svolgendo importanti azioni pacificatrici nelle terre vicine. I Lupi anticamente, con ogni probabilità, costruirono il castello e numerosi fortilizi sul territorio: sappiamo, infatti, che nel 1318 le truppe del podestà di Parma distrussero un ‘castelletto’ di Albertazzo Lupi, reo di essersi rifiutato di pagare un’ammenda. Un’altra tappa fondamentale nella storia della famiglia fu la trasformazione dei beni di Soragna in feudo, avvenuta nel 1347 da parte di Carlo quarto di Boemia, con il riconoscimento dei titoli di Marchese per Ugolotto Lupi e i suoi discendenti, e http://www.cialisgeneriquefr24.com/ del diritto di mero e misto impero e di podestà di spada sul feudo. Dopo lunghe traversie dovute alla contesa sull’eredità del nome e dei beni del casato, il marchese Giampaolo Meli ottenne nel 1530 dall’Imperatore Carlo V il diritto di aggiungere al proprio cognome quello dell’estinto casato dei Lupi, nonché il privilegio di porre l’insegna imperiale dell’aquila nello stemma. Tra le personalità che conferirono maggior lustro e prestigio alla casata dei Meli Lupi è sicuramente Isabella Pallavicino di Cortemaggiore, moglie di Giampaolo II, dama conosciuta soprattutto per aver ottenuto dal Duca di Ferrara il permesso di stampare un’edizione della ‘Gerusalemme liberata”, riveduta e corretta dallo stesso Tasso, ancora vivente, che le dedicò un sonetto tuttora conservato nella biblioteca del palazzo.
Nel 1709 Giampaolo Maria ottenne, dall’imperatore Giuseppe I, che il marchesato fosse innalzato a Principato del Sacro Romano Impero con diritto di battere moneta. Il titolo di Principe da allora viene portato dal primogenito della famiglia.

L’attuale Principe Diofebo, oltre alla sua attività nel settore agricolo, prosegue quella tesa ad apportare migliorie nell’attività turistica nella Rocca stessa, e nel campo musicale.

The fortress was built in 1385 by the Marchesi Bonifacio and Antonio Lupi who in 1347 had received feudal investiture over the territory from Charles IV, power that their family continued to exercise until was abolished at the time of Napoleon. It is probable that the first fortress, with a square floor plan and four towers at the corners, took only a year to build, while the outer walls were completed in 1392. At that time, the building appeared as a powerful fortress equipped with all kinds of defensive structures against attacks from the outside. As time went by, and the Signorias became consolidated, conflicts between feudal lords gradually decreased and it was therefore possible to make the structures of the castle more genteel turning it into a more pleasant and comfortable residence, while still preserving its older parts. The castle in fact underwent considerable rebuilding especially in the 16th century, but it was only in the next century that it became a magnificent princely residence, with the appearance that it still has today. Subsequent modifications were made by Angelo Rasori from Parma and by Antonio Tomba from Piacenza, respectively in the 1700s and 1800s. The fortress, enriche over time with countless works of art and invaluable evidence of the past, has always remained the property of the Meli Lupi family. The history of the Meli Lupi family cannot but start from the most ancient of the Lords of Soragna, Marchese Guido Lupi, who was podestà of Parma in 1202, performing important pacifying actions in neighbouring lands. In ancient times, in all likelihood, the Lupi family built the castle and numerous other small fortresses in the area: we know, in fact, that in 1318 the troops of the Podestà of Parma destroyed a small castle belonging to Albertazzo Lupi, guilty of having refused to pay a fine. Another fundamental event in the history of the family was the conversion of their properties in Soragna into a feud, by King Charles IV of Bohemia in 1347, with recognition of the title of Marchese for Ugolotto Lupi and his descendents, as well as of the right to ‘mere and mixed rule and power of sword over the feud’. After long tribulations due to a

dispute regarding inheritance of the family name and property, in 1530 the Emperor Charles V granted the Marchese Giampaolo Meli the right to add the name of the extinct Lupi family to his own name, as well as the privilege of including the imperial eagle insignia in the family coa of arms. One of the personages who brought most distinction and prestige to the Meli Lupi family was without a doubt Isabella Pallavicino di Cortemaggiore, wife of Giampaolo II, a lady famed above all for having obtained permission from the Duke of Ferrara

to have an edition of Torquato Tasso’s ‘Jerusalem Delivered’ printed, an edition that was revised and corrected by the author himself, while still alive. Tasso dedicated a sonnet to Lady Isabella that is still held din the library of the palace. In 1709 Giampaolo Maria succeeded in having Emperor Joseph I elevate the marquisate to a Principality of the Holy Roman Empire, with the right to mint coin. Since then the title of Prince is given to the eldest son of the family. The present Prince Diofebo, besides his work, in the agricultural area, continues activities aimed at making improvements to the tourist business of the fortress itself, and in the field of music.

Attività d’intrattenimento e svago a Merano
A Merano per via della sua posizione unica, ci sono infinite possibilità di programmare il tempo libero. Il clima mediterraneo consente di praticare qualsiasi tipo di attività all’area aperta per pressoché tutti i 365 giorni dell’anno. Situato nel fondovalle di quattro importanti valli (la Val Venosta, la Val Passiria, la Val d’Adige e la Val d’Ultimo) è completamente circondato dalle montagne e un panorama unico. Da una passeggiata tranquilla Lungo Passirio, a una sciata all’impianto sciistico di Merano 2000 (raggiungibile in appena 5 min. dal centro città); da una partita a Golf nella Val Passiria, a un giro in bici attraverso i circostanti piantagioni di mele e vitigni, tantissime discipline sportive sono attuabili che sicuramente rendono il Suo soggiorno a Merano speciale e indimenticabile.

Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff

I Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff a Merano, estesi a digradare su una superficie complessiva di 12 ettari, riuniscono
in un anfiteatro naturale paesaggi esotici e mediterranei, vedute  mozzafiato sugli scenari montani circostanti e sulla cittadina di cura Merano baciata dal sole. In più di 80 ambienti botanici prosperano e fioriscono piante da tutto il mondo. Giovani o vecchi, appassionati di botanica o gente comune: i Giardini di Castel Trauttmansdorff affascinano chiunque con l’incantevole intreccio fra natura, cultura e arte.
	Castel RametzSormontato da diversi merli, si trova immerso tra i vigneti. Venne ristrutturato oltre cent’anni fa e solamente il lato sud e la torre hanno mantenuto l’aspetto originario. Oggi è ristorante e cantina produttrice di ottimi vini.
Castel Verruca – FragsburgOggi albergo e ristorante, situato a 800 metri sopra il livello del mare è la costruzione fortificata più alta di Merano, incantevole vista da qui. Si può raggiungere anche a piedi con una camminata di un paio d’ore. La semplice costruzione in stile caratteristico del XIV secolo, le arcate della loggia e la cappella appena restaurata rendono il maniero un vero e proprio bijoux.
PolverieraRovina che sormonta la città vecchia di Merano, sorge sulle passeggiate Tappeiner. Nel XVI, XVII e XVIII secolo fungeva da deposito della polvere da sparo.
Castel KallmünzDalle spalle del parcheggio di piazza della Rena se ne intravedono i merli. Il primo castellano, menzionato nel 1460, era il giudice Kallmünz di Regensburg. Ospita uno dei ristoranti più rinomati della città. Nel giardino vengono occasionalmente messe in scena delle opere.
	Castel GattoCostruito a Maia Bassa nel XVII secolo, è proprietà dei signori di Castel Gatto: lo stemma raffigura proprio un felino. Perla architettonica ristrutturata, è di proprietà privata.
Castello PrincipescoResidenza dei Principi del Tirolo dal 1470 in poi, il Castello Principesco è un ottimo esempio di nobile dimora privata. Museo delle donneIl Museo delle Donne, unico nel suo genere in Italia, ha una sede tutta nuova, al 2° e 3° piano del palazzo della Banca Popolare. Lo storico edificio ospitò, dal 1309 al 1782, un convento di clarisse. Al piano superiore si trova la collezione permanente di oggetti legati alla vita quotidiana femminile. La moda è intesa come specchio della società e l‘esposizione interpreta lo spirito del tempo di ogni epoca, sulla base dei suoi diversi modi di manifestarsi. Gli spazi del livello inferiore ospitano invece mostre temporanee, convegni, seminari e presentazioni.

The Mediterranean climate allows you to practice any type of outdoor activities for almost all 365 days of the year. Located in the basin of four major valleys ( Val Venosta , Val Passirio, the Val d’Adige and Val d’Ultimo ) it’s completely surrounded by mountains and a stunning view. From a comfortable walk along the Passer , to a ski day on the slopes of Merano 2000 (just 5 min. from the city center ); from a golf play in  Passirio Valley, to a bike ride through the surrounding apple orchards and vines, many sports are practicable which surely will make your stay in Merano very special and memorable.

In addition, there is the possibility to organize trips with guided walks (such as the path of Sissi for example) and tasting different kinds of Tyrolean specialties (bacon, cheese, wine ) in one of the many typical cellars.

	Castel Rametz Crowned by various merlons, Rametz Castle is nestled amidst vineyards. Renovated over a hundred years ago, only the south side and the tower have maintained its original appearance. Today, the castle houses a restaurant and a high-quality winery.
Verruca (Fragsburg) Castle Today a hotel and restaurant, Fragsburg is located at an elevation of 800 metres: this not only makes it Merano’s highest fortification but also means that the views are wonderful. You can walk to the castle from town in a couple of hours. The simple construction in the style characteristic of the fourteenth century, the arches of the loggia, and the newly restored chapel make the castle a real gem.
Polveriera This ruin overlooking Merano’s old town, the name of which translates to Gunpowder Tower, is located on the Tappeiner Promenade. In the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth centuries, the building served as a depository for gunpowder.
Kallmünz Castle  The merlons of Kallmüntz Castle are visible from the parking lot of Piazza della Rena (Sandplatz). The first owner of the castle, which was document in 1460, was Judge Kallmüntz of Regensburg. The building houses one of the Merano’s most celebrated restaurants. Now and then, the castle gardens provide the backdrop for musical events.
	Gatto Castle Built in Maia Bassa (Untermais) in the seventeenth century, this castle is the property of the Lords of Katzenstein (Katzen = cats): their coat of arms, in fact, depicts a cat. This restored architectural gem is now a private residence.
Princes’ Castle This residence of the rulers of Tyrol from 1470 onwards is a good example of a private noble residence. It is one of the most complete and best-preserved castles in South Tyrol: the exhibition includes precious antique furniture and a collection of ancient musical instruments. Please note that the Princes’ Castle will remain closed until April 14th 2014. Kunst Merano Art In an exhibition area of 500 square metres spread over three floors of the Cassa di Risparmio building, Merano Arte serves as a venue for exhibitions, concerts, performances, literary meetings, seminars and workshops. Women’s Museum The Women’s Museum, unique in Italy, has a brand new headquarters: the second and third floors of the Banca Popolare building. The historical building housed a Clarisse convent from 1309 to 1782. On the upper floor, you’ll find the permanent collection, which comprises objects related to the daily lives of women. HES responds to climate imperatives in line with EU targets and the Davos Process 2007, which stipulate the required actions for the tourism sector:
• adapting tourism businesses and destinations to changing climate conditions
• mitigating greenhouse gas emissions
• supporting investments in energy efficiency and usage of renewable energy resources and technologies. 
 
The hotel sector is one of the tourism industry’s largest drivers of employment and economic revenue but at the same time it is one of the most energy-intensive. In fact, hotels and other types of accommodation account for 2% of the 5% global CO2 emitted by the tourism sector.
The project’s focus on SMEs is particularly important, as the utilization of out-dated technologies, lack of human and financial resources and a limited awareness and knowledge on greener alternatives may all be contributing to decreasing their competitiveness. In addition, SMEs are usually less proactive about the environment in comparison to larger hotel chains.
Helping the sector respond to the challenges of climate change is thereby necessary.

 The project seeks to bridge the existent gap between available Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy technologies and their actual use in SMEs.
